This October Fandom Flakies takes on one of my favorite fandoms! Handmaid’s Tale. The fandom flakie box features core makers Bee’s Knees Lacquer & Night Owl Lacquer with a guest maker in each box. The box has gorgeous limited edition flakie polishes themed after all sorts of fandoms. This month the guest maker is Fair Maiden Polish.
Available every month on the second Friday for a week long pre-order.
I have expressed my passion on this fandom in a previous blog, I admire the strength of the women in this story and simultaneously terrified that it’s a reality prospect for our future.
Let’s get to the Swathes:
First up is our guest maker Fair Maiden’s Nolite Te Bastardes Carborundorum. This fiery red literally has an internal fire that glows even in low light, the base is a red jelly with a tad of blue shimmer pigment and is full of orange and yellow iridescent flakies.
It reaches full opacity in 2 coats and dries to a semi glossy finish. This color reminds me of the line “If they didn’t want us to rise up, they shouldn’t have given us uniforms!”
Next is the Bee’s Knees contribution, Blessed Be the Fruit. This is an ash brown with a strong bright pink shimmer and iridescent flakes that shift from taupe to orange to pink.
It reaches full opacity in 2-3 coats, I used 2 coats on my swatches.
This color reminds me of the intersect between the Handmaids and the Aunts. Even though the Aunts are charged with keeping the handmaids in order, you can tell how much they love them and find them to reflect in themselves.
Finally, I have the Night Owl contribution, Praised be a beautiful dusty blue with blue crystal flakes, charcoal flakes and bright blue micro flakies. It reaches full opacity in 2 coats and dries to a semi matte finish.
This color is a representation of the commanders wives dresses, although the wives rank higher in the pecking order, they still are just as oppressed as the other women and are just as dispensable as any women in this society.
This is another great box from fandom flakies, Congratulations Ladies!
Thanks for reading!
