Hella Holo Customs has an annual tradition of making the month of October it’s Kokua month a Hawaiian word that means “to help”. This is a closed facebook group where custom polishes are created monthly by inspirations the group votes on. To join head on on over to HHC they are a great group!
Mariah, the maker for Great Lakes Lacquer chose a person, not an organization to receive her kokua. Mariah chose to help Gretchen Kushner (IG: @fortheloveofodd better known for her lovely swatches of various indie brands, 20% of the sales proceeds will go directly to Gretchen.
Gretchen has been a part of the HHC family since it’s inception, she encouraged Dawn Borden to start HHC. Over the past two years has struggled with a cancer diagnosis and the treatments that followed.
Mariah has made this stunning polish to help her along and named it “Ohana”. Ohana means family, and that’s exactly what Gretchen is to this group.
Now for the Swatches:
Ohana is a fuchsia jelly linear holographic filled with multichrome flakes, iridescent flakes and holo micro flakes.
Even though this little bottle is jammed packed with flakies, it self levels and dries to a semi glossy state with minimal texture.
A glossy top coat seals up the sparkle and leaves a smooth finish.
This polish is so opaque that one coat can be used, an additional coat deepens this beauty and jams even more sparkle and rainbows.
Thanks to Mariah for her kindness and much love to Gretchen who no matter her circumstance faces every day with a smile.
